A perfect wedding day is a dream of every bride in this world and for any individual, the wedding day is the best and happiest day of his/her life. It is the day where two individuals vowed to commit themselves to each other. To live their life together no longer as strangers or friends, but as a family as each other’s husband or wife. The wedding festival of the Malays is derived from a long history of cultural assimilation and adaptation. Today, the traditional Malay wedding is a very complex and elaborated ceremony, consisting of multiple stages and religious procedures.
There many definition of marriage however it is wedding day is the day two difference person from difference background committed to build life together while wedding is the ceremony where people are united in marriage. Wedding traditions and customs vary greatly between cultures, ethnic groups, religions, countries, and social classes. In Malays tradition, ceremony will be arrange to celebrate and introduce the partner to ensure socially or ritually recognized union or legal contract between spouses that establishes rights and obligations between them, between them and their children, and between them and their in-laws. According to Oxford Dictionary the definition of wedding is act or ceremony of marrying; marriage; nuptials. While marriage is social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments include with religious ceremonies.
According to the Quran, a married Muslim couple, both husband and wife act as each other’s protector and comforter and therefore only meant for each other. All Muslim marriages have to be declared publicly and are never to be undertaken in secret. For many Muslims, it is the ceremony that counts as the actual wedding alongside a confirmation of that wedding in a registry office according to fiqh, in Islam a wedding is also viewed as a legal contract particularly in Islamic. In Malaysia, every ethnic has their own unique in having their wedding ceremony. All the customs followed in the wedding ceremony was a great and valuable heritage and it should be passed down from generation to generation. The detailed of the Malays wedding ceremony of each phase will be discussed in this thesis.

In Malays tradition few stage or process will need to get through by both parties of the man and the women family to ensure the wedding will be setting up on the date that they want to be united as husband and wife. The Malays wedding ceremony is depend on the hantaran (sum amount) given by the man to his future wife and type of ceremony is chosen according to both parties taste, budgets and also family blessing. There two type of wedding first is traditional wedding ceremony usually held in village or modern wedding ceremony in town either in grand hotel wedding, lake or garden wedding, wedding hall, or at the bride house. Most of bride usually will discuss with parent to set the place, time, and venue early before the wedding day to make sure their have enough time to set everything for the big day. Malay weddings are grand affairs where the couple is treated as royalty. Weddings are usually spread out over several days, starting with the Henna-staining ceremony, followed by the marriage contract (akad nikah) ceremony and ending with the enthronement (Bersanding) which is the actual wedding day this ceremony is to celebrate two bride groom's in their biggest day with friends, relatives, and also beloved family.
